Founders of Fame
This tour is all about feeling the soul of Liverpool, seeing where history was made, and walking in the footsteps of the people who made Liverpool famous on the map. It's an excellent opportunity to soak up some of Liverpool's incredible stories and sights! Starting at Hotel Tia, you can enjoy our terrace and patio area while admiring some historic shirts worn and signed by club legends. After a photo opportunity by the Shankly mural, the next stop is Anfield Stadium, where you can see the historic Shankly Gates and the iconic statue of the famous man himself. We will then proceed to the historic West Derby, originally a Viking town. Karen Gill, our guide, is the granddaughter of Bill, so who better to share memories than Karen herself? We will visit the Shankly family home and pass The Bill Shankly playing fields and the world-famous Melwood Training ground, which was used from the 1950s right up to 2020, a place which has witnessed the Liverpool greats, Shankly, Paisley, Rush, Dalglish, Gerrard and Salah to name a few. A place where, no doubt, many of the famous trophy successes were plotted. After West Derby, we will dive into The Beatles' lives through their homes and iconic sites in South Liverpool and take you to some of the most influential songwriting places in Liverpool: Woolton Village, Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane, among other historic places. We will visit Penny Lane Development Trust, located next to the sports field. A great gift shop with loads of unique Beatles-material. If we are lucky, we might also bump into Colin Hanton, the legendary drummer in the Quarrymen. On the same site is the pub Dovedale Towers. This is the pub where Jürgen Klopp filmed the Erdinger Advert and also where Freddie Mercury lived when studying in Liverpool. When returning to Hotel Tia, enjoy the blend of architectural marvels and scenic vistas in Liverpool City Centre. Get the best city views and experience a mix of old and new buildings. As our tour ends, we will return back to hotel Tia for a complimentary drink, share old memories & make new ones Every LFC home games weekend Sundays at 13.00 (Tours will be moved to Saturdays if LFC play on Sunday)
